User Count (-usrcount)
n
The number of users allowed to connect to a database before license usage reporting begins.
Use User Count (
-usrcount
) to change the threshold at which license usage reporting begins. License usage reporting lets you track the number of connections to a database.By default, Progress reports license usage information in the log (
.lg
) file when the number of batch and interactive connections to a database reaches 85 percent of the licensed user count defined in the Progress configuration file. If you specify-usrcount
, when the number of users connected to the database meets or exceeds the value specified for number, Progress writes the following information to the log file:This information appears in a nonfatal message similar to following license usage reporting messages sample.
Progress also writes license usage summary information to the log file when the server is started and shut down.
No usage reporting occurs if you purchased an unlimited license or if you specify the
-usrcount
parameter with a value of 0.NOTE: You must shut down the server to change the user count specified by-usrcount
.On shared-memory systems, you can control the frequency at which the server polls for license usage information with License Usage Reporting Interval (-rptint). For more information, see the
-rptint
startup parameter. For more information about Progress user licensing, see the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for UNIX and Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for Windows .
