Progress/400
Product Guide
Executing OS/400 Commands
The Progress/400 DataServer performs these functions from within a Progress client session:
When you create a client schema holder, the DataServer loads a data definition file called QCMD, which provides this functionality. QCMD contains a parameter form for the OS/400 Submit Job (SBMJOB) command. When you complete the parameter form and press F2, the DataServer either performs the SBMJOB function, processes the OS/400 command, or processes the special Progress/400 command. The entry in the CMD parameter, which is the first entry on the parameter form, determines how the DataServer handles the request.
The Progress client session is not notified of the job’s command status or of errors or warnings that the job generates. Use the OS/400 Display Job (DSPJOB) command to view job information.
Before you can submit a job, you must connect to the client schema holder and the DB2/400 database files.
