WebSpeed Component Requirements On UNIX
This section discusses disk space and other system requirements for running WebSpeed on your UNIX system. WebSpeed requires no special swap space requirement or shared memory and kernel configurations. If you are using the Progress database, check the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for UNIX for information on setting these items.
File Descriptors
You must allocate sufficient file descriptors to handle all the WebSpeed Agents your configuration uses. You should set the file descriptors to 241 by entering the following command:
Disk Space Requirements
Table 1–5 lists the approximate file size that each Progress product requires based on a 512-byte block size and a complete installation that includes support for one installed language. Actual space requirements can vary, depending on the block size of your machine.
If you are adding other Progress products to your system, such as the Progress Database or a DataServer, see the “Installation Requirements” chapter in the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for UNIX .
Additionally, some products share common files. If you install several products on your machine, the installation might not require the sum of the values listed in Table 1–5 for each product.
NOTE: During the installation process, your system requires extra space to contain the installation utility, installation tables, and Progress files in compressed format. This additional space is needed only for the installation. When the installation ends, these extra files are deleted from the current working directory.
