Progress
DataServer
for ORACLE Guide

Starting the UNIX Client Process

After starting the remote broker, you start the Progress client process on your UNIX machine by running this executable:

pro

You can supply the connection parameters required by the DataServer when you start the client process, or you can include them in the Connection Parameters field when you create a schema holder. For example, this command starts the Progress client and connects to a read-only schema holder named oholder for an ORACLE database named orademo:

pro oholder -RO -db oradb -dt ORACLE -ld orademo -H host1 -S oserviceA
  -N TCP -U scott -P tiger

See the "Connecting a Schema Holder at Startup" and "Optional Connection and Startup Parameters" sections for descriptions of the required command line.
