Creating Secondary Window Links
You can use a technique called window redirection to display a help topic in a secondary window or to force a topic to be displayed in the main window. Secondary windows, unlike the main help viewer window, cannot contain a menu bar:
You format the popup or jump in the same way as destination topics (single or double underlined followed by hidden text), except that after the destination topic you insert a greater-than sign (>) followed by the name of a window type that you have defined in the [WINDOWS] section of your help project file:
![]()
In this example, when the user chooses the jump (database), the help viewer displays the help topic for the string “database” in a dynamically created secondary window (glossary). The help writer defined this secondary window in the help project file. For more information on defining windows, see the "[WINDOWS] Section" in Completing Help Systems."
