Starting Local Small Clients

If both the ESQL small client and OID are on the same machine, there is no need to start the OIB or OID prior to starting the small client. The OID is started automatically (auto-started) for the ESQL small client. This is the basic syntax for starting local small clients:

SYNTAX
client-name -SV -S service-name -N TCP -H host-name

client-name

Your ESQL application filename.

service-name

The name of the auto-started OID.

For each operating system, the server name (-S) for your OID is required.

NOTE: Unlike a manually-started or OIB-started OID, when you auto-start an OID with a local small client, provide all session-wide client parameters when you start the small client.
