Running ESQL Applications

The procedure for running an ESQL application as a small or large client is different, although they provide the same SQL functionality. You can execute an ESQL large client like any Progress database client, using many of the same startup parameters to manage database access. Many of these parameters (especially those used for database connection) also apply to starting small clients.

For more information on running Progress database clients, see the Progress Client Deployment Guide. For information on running ESQL small clients, see the "Starting ESQL Small Clients" section. For information on startup considerations common to both small and large clients, see the "Preparing to Run Small and Large Client Applications" section.
