Demonstration Databases

Progress/400 provides DB2/400 databases that contain the tables, fields, indexes, and data found in the standard Progress sports, sports2000, and demo databases. On the AS/400, these databases are called PROSPORT, SPORTS2000, and PRODEMO, respectively. Progress Software Corporation supplies them on the same media as the other Progress/400 software. You can create a copy of these databases to practice working with the Progress language or the Progress/400 utilities. These are the general steps that you follow to create a copy of a demonstration database:

  1. Use the Duplicate Progress/400 Database (DUPPRODB) server utility to copy the demonstration database. The utility creates a server schema with the data definition information and data from the specified database files.
  2. Specify *PROSPORT, *SPORTS2K, or *PRODEMO for the From Progress/400 Database Name (FROMDB) parameter.
  3. Specify Full Copy *YES.
  4. On the client machine, create a schema holder.

See "Creating the Progress/400 Environment," for specific instructions on how to run DUPPRODB and how to create a client schema holder.
