AIMAGE EXTRACT Qualifier
The AIMAGE EXTRACT qualifier provides you the ability to extract the active
AI
blocks from a specified, full after-image extent, and writes them to an output file. ExtractingAI
blocks from anAI
extent compactsAI
data into the smallest possible file. ExtractingAI
blocks can significantly shrink the size of anAI
file, particularly if you have large fixed-sizeAI
extents which are not filled to capacity. ExtractingAI
blocks is beneficial in cases where you are using after-imaging to replicate data, perhaps at a disaster recovery site, and you need to minimize file transfer size. The output file of extracted blocks is equivalent to the sourceAI
extent. Use the file of extracted blocks with the RFUTIL utilities to roll forward a target database.
db-name
Specifies the database you are using.
-a ai-extent
Identifies the
AI
file containing the blocks to be extracted. The extent must be marked as full or locked.-o output-file
Specifies the file to hold the extracted blocks.
NOTE: Extracting blocks from anAI
extent is only beneficial for fixed length extents. There will be minimal savings of disk space when extracting blocks from a variable length extent.
