AppServer
The Progress Version 9.1B AppServer includes the following enhancements:
- A new AppServer Internet Adapter (AIA) component that supports development and distribution of applications over the Internet. The AIA is a Java servlet that executes within a Web server using a Java Servlet engine (JSE) and extends the AppServer architecture to support HTTP tunneling. HTTP tunneling allows clients to tunnel through firewalls.
- A new Progress Secure AppServer™ using the Progress Secure AppServer Internet Adapter (AIA/S)™. The AIA/S supports HTTP tunneling over the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) using HTTPS.
- A new –URL connection parameter for the CONNECT( ) method. This connection parameter allows you to specify several other AppServer connection parameters formatted as a single URL. This URL can specify three protocols:
- A new
ubroker.properties
file validation command,aiaconfig
, to validate configurations for instances of the AIA that you create by editing theubroker.properties
file.- Two new startup parameters that allow a 4GL client to connect to an AIA or AIA/S mediated AppServer through a local firewall. Table 1–1 describes these new startup parameters.
