Debugger Guide

Debugger Features and Functions

The Debugger is a utility that you can run with any Progress application that runs in the Debugger environment. When you invoke the Debugger, it runs in a separate process with its own window. The Debugger window allows you to enter commands to control all of its functions. You can enter these commands by typing them in, choosing menu options, clicking on window buttons, or pressing accelerator keys. The Debugger window also provides access to comprehensive online help information on all Debugger features and functions. (For more information on each Debugger command, see "Command Reference." )

You can also invoke the Debugger from the 4GL using the DEBUGGER handle. With this system handle, you can control many features of Debugger operation from a Progress procedure. This provides a range of capabilities - from helping to debug complex event-driven logic to building your own Progress development tools that include the Debugger as a tool option. (For more information on the DEBUGGER handle, see DEBUGGER and SESSION System Handles.")
