Creating the Environment (DUPPRODB)
Running the DUPPRODB utility on the AS/400 is the first step in creating the Progress/400 environment. The DUPPRODB utility creates a library that contains the server schema and the DB2/400 database files that you select to include.
Follow these steps to set up the Progress/400 environment on the AS/400:
- Make sure that you have basic connectivity between the AS/400 and your PC client.
- Back up your DB2/400 database files.
- Type DUPPRODB at the OS/400 command line, then press F4 to display the utility’s parameters.
- Press F10 to view more parameters. For a complete description of all of the parameters, see the "Duplicate Progress/400 Database (DUPPRODB)" section in AS/400 Utilities."
The DUPPRODB utility creates the Progress/400 environment on the AS/400 machine and builds the structure for the server schema. After you run the DUPPRODB utility, run the CHGPRODCT utility as described in the "Changing Data Definitions (CHGPRODCT)" section to re-create the data definitions for your DB2/400 database files. The utility stores those data definitions in the server schema in the Progress/400 environment that you created with the DUPPRODB utility.
