ubroker.properties File

The ubroker.properties file contains configuration information for each instance of an AIA. The default ubroker.properties file contains an AIA root group and an Aia1 instance. All of the properties in the AIA root group are inherited by the Aia1 instance and any other AIA instance that you define. The root AIA group includes the following properties that you can modify:

NOTE: The ubroker.properties file contains a default instance named Aia1.

For more information about these properties and how to set the values for the AIA, see the comments in the ubroker.properties file in the properties subdirectory of your Progress installation directory, or the Progress Explorer Help.

Editing the ubroker.properties File

On Windows NT, you can use the Progress Explorer to configure AIA properties. The Progress Explorer provides a graphical interface for configuring the values in the ubroker.properties file for an AIA instance. On platforms other than Windows NT, you can use any text editor to edit the AIA properties.

NOTE: To use the Progress Explorer on Windows NT, you must have installed the AdminServer at the same site as the AIA. If the AdminServer is not installed, then you must use a text editor to manually edit the ubroker.properties file.

Validating Changes To the ubroker.properties File

If you use a tool other than Progress Explorer to edit the values in the ubroker.properties file, you can validate the changes made to the ubroker.properties file for an AIA instance using the AIACONFIG command. The following shows the syntax for the AIACONFIG command:

SYNTAX
aiaconfig [
 [  [ -name AIA-instance-name ]
    [ -propfile path-to-properties-file ]
    [ -validate ]
 ] | -help ]

NOTE: If you upgrade to a new version of Progress, you might want to retain changes made to the previous version’s ubroker.properties file. If that is the case, place the old properties file in the installed properties directory to replace the default. When starting the AdminServer for the first time, a properties file conversion utility automatically runs.
