Progress/400
Product Guide
Absolute and Relative Paths
Absolute paths always begin the search from your root directory. Relative paths begin the search from the current directory. With the absolute path, the root directory is denoted by the slash (/). For example, suppose that your path looks like the following:
/directory1/directory2/object
In this case, the ROOT file system searches from the following top level:
/directory1/directory2/object
However, if you do not specify the first slash (/), you have a relative path. When you use a relative path, Progress/400 starts with your current working directory. For example, suppose that your path looks like the following:
directory1/directory2/object
In this case, the ROOT file system searches from the following:
current-working-directory
/directory1/directory2/object
