DataServer for
Microsoft SQL Server
Guide
Configuring a Local DataServer
In a local configuration, all DataServer components—client and server—run on the same machine. (The server component is embedded in the client executable.) This section describes how to configure a local DataServer.
Windows 95 and Windows 98-based local configurations are available only with the Personal DataServer for SQL Server. Windows NT-based local configurations are available with either the Personal or Enterprise DataServer for SQL Server™.
To configure the local DataServer on Windows, follow these steps:
NOTE: If you are configuring the Personal version of DataServer for SQL Server™ with either WebSpeed or AppServer, your local DataServer system is the system where the WebSpeed or AppServer broker resides and executes. You must install your Personal version of the DataServer for SQL Server™ at that location.- Install the ODBC software and the client software on the system where your local DataServer resides.
- Make sure that you registered the data source with the ODBC driver correctly on the appropriate machine.
Once you have set up your environment, you can build the schema holder for your SQL Server datatbase™ and connect using the client executable. See the "Creating a Schema Holder" section for instructions.
