Progress/400
Product Guide

Creating the Environment (DUPPRODB)

Running the DUPPRODB utility on the AS/400 is the first step in creating the Progress/400 environment. The DUPPRODB utility creates an empty server schema that will hold your Progress data definitions.

Follow these steps to set up the Progress/400 environment on the AS/400:

  1. Make sure that you have basic connectivity between the AS/400 and your client.
  2. Type DUPPRODB at the OS/400 command line, then press F4 to display the utility’s parameters.
  3. Press F10 to view more parameters. Complete the parameters. For a complete description of all of the parameters, see the "Duplicate Progress/400 Database (DUPPRODB)" section in AS/400 Utilities."
  4. The DUPPRODB utility creates the Progress/400 environment on the AS/400 machine and builds the structure for the server schema.

  5. Since subsequent tasks require accessing the AS/400 from the client machine, make sure that you have set up the appropriate network connections and started any supporting processes. Table 3–3 briefly lists what you need to do for each protocol. See "Remote Access to Progress/400 DataServer," for more details.
  6. Table 3–3: AS/400 Network Processes
    Protocol
    Startup
    SNA
There are no processes that you start manually.
    TCP/IP
Start the TCP/IP broker with the STRPRONET command.

Next, you will run client utilities to dump and load Progress data definitions and data into the Progress/400 environment.
