This guide provides instructions for building the DataServer modules, a discussion of programming considerations, a tutorial, and instructions for migrating from the DataServer for ODBC to the DataServer for Microsoft SQL Server.
In Progress Version 9.0, the Progress AppBuilder Developer’s Guide documents both the AppBuilder application-building tool and the ADM 2 application architecture. For Version 9.1A, this manual was divided into two manuals: Progress AppBuilder Developer’s Guide and the Progress ADM 2 Guide and Reference . In Version 9.1B, the Progress ADM 2 Guide and Reference was split into two separate manuals, the Progress ADM 2 Guide and Progress ADM 2 Reference .
Each manual contains a core of material from the Version 9.0 manual but has been significantly expanded and revised. All the information in Progress ADM 2 Reference is new for Version 9.1. Each manual is described below.
- The Version 9.1B, Progress ADM 2 Guide is a guide to using the Application Development Model Version 2 (ADM 2) application architecture to develop Progress application. It includes instructions for building and using Progress SmartObjects. See the guide’s Preface for actual chapter descriptions.
- The Version 9.1B Progress ADM 2 Reference provides reference descriptions for ADM and AppBuilder functions and procedures, organized in groups by the procedure (
.p
) files that contain them. See the manual’s Preface for actual chapter descriptions.- The Version 9.1 Progress AppBuilder Developer’s Guide , which retains the Version 9.0 title, is a programmer’s guide to using the Progress AppBuilder visual layout editor. AppBuilder is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool that can significantly reduce the time and effort required to create Progress applications.
