Host Language Variables
With ESQL, you can pass data between your application and ESQL using host language variables. Host language variables are specially declared C Language variables that you can specify in Progress/ESQL statements. You can use host language variables to exchange data between your application and SQL tables with both static and dynamic ESQL statements. You can also use them to provide values for dynamic parameter markers in dynamic ESQL. (For more information on dynamic parameter markers, see the "Using Dynamic Parameter Markers" section in this chapter.)
