Creating the Initial Report Layout
As with every report, the first step is to create an initial report layout. However, for the mailing labels you use the default Report Builder layout, not the Instant Layout option.
Follow these steps to create the label report definition:
- Choose the New Report button. Report Builder prompts you to specify the master table for the report. The Customer table in the Newsport database contains all the customer address information.
- Select Customer from the selection list, then choose OK. Report Builder prompts you to create an Instant Layout.
- Choose No. The default report layout appears, as shown in Figure 5–1.

Notice that this layout has only one record band line.
