Client Performance Parameters

Use the parameters listed in Table 3–2 to control client performance.

Async Queue Size
-asyncqueuesize n
Specify the total number of bytes allowed for asynchronous request buffers allocated for a client
Buffer Size for Temporary Tables
-Bt n
Specify the size of the buffer pool for blocks or records from the temporary table.
Directory Size
-D n
Change the number (soft limit) of compiled procedure directory entries.
Schema Field Cache Size
-fc num-entries
Change the number (soft limit) of entries in the schema field cache.
Hardlimit
-hardlimit
Force Progress to adhere to set limits.
Local Buffer Size
-l n
Specify the size (soft limit) of the local record buffer.
Message Buffer Size
-Mm n
Specify the message buffer size for network protocols.
Maximum Memory
-mmax n
Set the initial amount (soft limit) of memory allocated for r-code segments.
Record Buffer Size
-Mr n
Specify the standard record buffer size in bytes.
PROLIB Memory
-plm
Allocate a 512-byte cache for the Progress library directory.
PROLIB Swap
-pls
Store r-code files locally in temporary sort files.
Stack Size
-s n
Specify the stack size.
SQL-92 Stack Size
-SQLStackSize n
Specify the size, in MB, of the SQL Stack.
Statement Cache Size
-SQLStmtCacheSize num_entries
Specify the number of statements allowed in the cache.
Stash Area
-stsh n
Specify the number of 1 KB blocks to allocate in the stash area.
Temporary Directory
-T dirname
Specify the directory for temporary files.
Save Temp Files1
-t
Make temporary file entries visible.
Speed Sort
-TB blocksize
Specify the block size in kilobytes to allocate when sorting records for reports or rebuilding indexes.
Merge Number
-TM n
Specify the number of blocks or streams simultaneously merged during a sort.
