Progress/400
Product Guide
Task List
Follow these steps to use the native clients:
- Create a dictionary library containing the schema image on the AS/400. You create the dictionary library and the schema image with the DUPPRODB utility if you do not have an existing server schema, or with CRTSCHIMG if you have a server schema.
- Prepare your Progress 4GL code for the AS/400. This might involve removing user interface statements and redirecting input and output.
- Transfer your p-code to the AS/400 from a remote client, or locate local AS/400 p-code or r-code. If you are transferring p-code from a remote client to the AS/400, use the Progress 4GL to check the syntax before you execute the transfer.
- Compile your p-code using the Native 4GL Compiler on the AS/400. Any compilation errors show up in your job log. You can fix these compilation errors on the remote client where you can use the Procedure Editor.
- Invoke a client to execute your Progress 4GL code (p-code or r-code).
