DataServer Parameters (DS)

Use the parameters listed in Table 3–14 when starting an ODBC, ORACLE, or Progress/400 DataServer. The parameters are organized alphabetically by syntax.

Specify the number of index place holders or cursors.
Internal Code Page

Identify the code page that Progress uses in memory.
Log File Code Page
-cplog codepage
Identify the code page used for writing messages to the log file.
Print Code Page
-cpprint codepage
Identify the code page used for printer output.
R-code in Code Page
-cprcodein codepage
Identify the code page used for reading r-code text segments.
Stream Code Page
-cpstream codepage
Identify the code page used for stream I/O.
Terminal Code Page
-cpterm codepage
Identify the code page for character terminals.
DataServer
-Dsrv keyword ( , value )
[ , keyword2 ( , value2 ) ... ]
Identify keywords as parameters for the ODBC, ORACLE, or Progress/400 DataServer.
Database Type
-dt db-type
Identify the database type.
Host Name
TCP: -H host-name
SNA: -H PLU= plu-name
Specify a remote host.
AS/400 Ignore Stamp
-is
Stop a client from comparing time stamps when connecting to an AS/400 database.
Index Hint
-noindexhint
Stop an ORACLE DataServer from providing index hints to the ORACLE DBMS.
Server Join
-nojoinbysqldb
Make a client evaluate and perform queries that have joins.
SELECT Pass Through Disable
-noSQLbyserver
Turn off SELECT pass Through for OBDC and ORACLE DataServers.
AS/400 Server Program Name
-Sn
Start a Server program on an AS/400 with a Progress connection request (SNA only).
