Starting an OID Directly Without a Broker

You can start a remote OID directly without using a broker. You might want to do this for monitoring purposes, to identify the exact connection between an ESQL small client and its OID. You start an OID with the addition of the Manual Server (-m2) startup parameter, as shown in the following examples:

On UNIX:

$PROOIDRV -SV -S esqlsv1 -H host-name -N TCP -m2

On Windows, there is no OIB. You can start the OID directly with the following command:

%PROOIDRV% -SV -S esqlsv1 -N TCP -H host-name -m2
