New Naming Convention For SmartObject Files
Conventionally, certain SmartObjects have been given filenames beginning with a specific single lowercase letter, for example ‘d’ for SmartDataObjects. This worked well enough when there were fewer object types, and filenames were restricted by the old 11-character limit imposed by legacy operating systems. But now the filename restriction no longer exists, and it is increasingly difficult to find appropriate single characters for the new object types. For these reasons, Progress Software has begun to adopt a new naming convention.
The new convention for naming object files uses three characters, beginning with the letter ‘s’. The objects to which it applies as of this release are:
Note that the existing prefixes remain unchanged at this time, with the exception of the prefix for SmartDataField object, which was ‘s’ by itself.
