Setting Up and Using Word Indexes

Setting Up Word Indexes on an Existing Progress/400 Dictionary Library
Follow these steps to set up a word index on an existing Progress/400 Dictionary Library:
- If the default word-break table (named DFTWISWST) is not adequate for your needs:
NOTE: If you create word indexes over journaled tables, you must start the Progress/400 Word Index Support Processor using the STRWISPRC utility before you can perform any file update operations.- Use the Progress/400 Data Dictionary to create one or more word indexes over one or more tables.
You can now use your word indexes.
Setting Up Word Indexes on a New Progress/400 Dictionary Library
Follow these steps to set up a word index on a new Progress/400 Dictionary Library:
- If the default word-break table (named DFTWISWST) is not adequate for your needs, create a new word-break table using the UPDPROWBT utility.
- Use the DUPPRODB to create a new Progress/400 Dictionary Library. If you created a new word-break table in Step 1, be sure to specify it on the DUPPRODB command line.
- Use the Progress/400 Data Dictionary to either add tables, indexes, and so forth, or load your definition (.df) file.
Loading a definition file that contains word indexes creates an index with a default word size of 30. You can change this size prior to committing by using the Index Property screen in the Progress/400 Data Dictionary. See the "Modifying an Index" section in "Remote Client DB2/400 Utilities," for details.
NOTE: If you create word indexes over tables that will be journaled, you must start the Progress/400 Word Index Support Processor using the STRWISPRC utility before you can perform any file update operations.You can now use your word indexes.
Handling a Renamed Progress/400 Product Library
If your Progress/400 Product Library is renamed after installation and creation of your word indexes, follow these steps:
Changing the Word-Break Rules for an Existing Progress/400 Dictionary Library
Follow these steps to change the word-break rules for an existing Progress/400 Dictionary Library:
- Use the UPDPROWBT utility to create a new word-break table.
- After the table has been created, use the RPLDCTWBT utility to update the word index definitions in the Progress/400 Dictionary Library.
Running this utility rebuilds each word index using the new table’s rules from that Dictionary Library.
