Progress/400 AppServer Instance Job Information
All of the AS/400 jobs for the Progress/400 Administration Server, the Progress/400 Name Server, and the Progress/400 AppServer instance start up using the user’s name that was specified in the Progress/400 AppServer Defaultsconfiguration menu at install time (for example, PROGRESS). This user must have *ALLOBJ authority for the Progress/400 AppServer product to perform correctly.
The following values specify the environment where the Progress/400 AppServer instance will run. You set these values at install time, or with the CHGPRODFT command. For more information on the CHGPRODFT command, see AS/400 Utilities."
*ADMSVR
If you select *ADMSVR in the AppServer Instance Environment field, each Progress/400 AppServer instance will start its jobs in the Progress/400 AdminServer subsystem. For example, if you specify APPSVR in the Administration Jobs Subsystem Name field, then when an Application broker starts, its jobs (for example, ASBROKER1 and QJVACMDSRV) will start in the APPSVR subsystem. Any Progress/400 Application Server jobs started by this Application Broker will also start in the APPSVR subsystem.
*BROKER
If you select *BROKER in the AppServer Instance Environment field, each Progress/400 AppServer instance will start its jobs in its own subsystem with the same name as the Application Broker. For example, if the Application Broker, ASBROKER1, starts and the install subsystem is *BROKER, Progress/400 creates a subsystem with the name ASBROKER1, and the broker jobs ASBROKER1 and QJVACMDSRV start within this subsystem. Any Application Server jobs for ASBROKER1 will also start in this same subsystem. Any additional Application Brokers started will have their own subsystem and their jobs will run within the subsystem created with their name. If Progress/400 finds an existing subsystem of the same name as the broker, it will use this existing subsystem. Otherwise, Progress/400 creates a new subsystem using the broker name as the subsystem.
*USER
If you select *USER in the AppServer Instance Environment field, each AppServer instance will start its jobs in an existing subsystem specified by the job queue and job description parameters.
