Java Requirements
WebSpeed Version 3.1 requires one or more installed Java components for internal use. Specifically, the components are the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and the Java Development Kit (JDK). On most operating systems, Progress installs the required JRE and JDK automatically with the development products. Table 1–2 lists the JRE and JDK requirements for the platforms that WebSpeed supports.

NOTES: There is an exception to the JRE/JDK installation information in Table 1–2 for Windows NT. If you are working in a Japanese environment on Windows NT and want to receive Japanese messages for Java developer tools like the Java compiler, Javadoc, and AppletViewer, you should first install the JavaSoft Japanese Java Software Development Kit (JDK) supplement.The default version of the JRE installed by Progress is 1.3.0.
The default version of the JDK installed by Progress is 1.3.0.
If you install the WebSpeed Messenger on a different machine from the WebSpeed Transaction Server, there are no Java requirements on the machine where the Messenger resides.
