File Descriptors

A file descriptor is an identifier assigned to a file when it is opened. There is a system limit on the number of file descriptors. Each database process (clients, remote client servers, and the broker) might use 15 or more file descriptors. Therefore, set the system’s file descriptor limit at approximately 15 times the maximum number of processes, or higher. Allow approximately10 file descriptors for the operating system as well.
