Progress/400
Product Guide
Modifying the Configurations
Progress/400 stores the configurations for all the components managed by the Progress/400 AdminServer, including the Progress/400 NameServer, and the Progress/400 AppServer instances in the
ubroker.properties
file. The Progress/400ubroker.properties
file follows the same format and standards as theubroker.properties
file on UNIX (for example, directory path separators and environment variables). For a detailed description of this file, its function, customization, and verification, see the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for UNIX.As with UNIX, the Progress/400
ubroker.properties
file resides in the $DLC/properties directory. On the AS/400, this directory is located within the root file system. For more information on the root file system, see Preparing to Use AS/400-based Clients." Follow the same guidelines as UNIX for managing this file. To edit theubroker.properties
file with the specific configurations for your Progress/400 AdminServer, Progress/400 NameServer, and Progress/400 AppServer instance, choose from the following options. Always make a copy of theubroker.properties
file, edit the copy, and verify the results before replacing the original with your edited copy:
NOTE: If you use EDTF to edit your file, you must also verify your changes with the configuration validation utilities on either NT or UNIX. If your AdminServer is running and you choose the Progress Explorer to verify your changes, you no longer can use EDTF, as the Progress Explorer makes changes to the end-of-line (EOL) characters.- EDTF (Edit File) — Edit the file on the AS/400 using the command EDTF. The EDTF command ships with the OS/400 Version V4R4. Progress/400 also provides this command for use on earlier versions of the OS/400.
- Progress Explorer tool — If your AdminServer is running, you can edit the file on the AS/400 from an NT interface using the Progress Explorer. The Progress Explorer also verifies any changes you make to the Progress/400
ubroker.properties
file. If you choose this method, you can no longer use EDTF, as the Progress Explorer changes EOL characters. This is the recommended editing method.- UNIX editor — Edit the file on UNIX, verify your changes with the UNIX configuration validation utilities, and then move the file back to the AS/400. You can use this method if the AdminServer is not running.
- Windows editor — Edit the file on NT with Client Access. This requires that you map a drive to the root directory on the AS/400. Verify your changes with the NT configuration validation utilities, and then move the file back to the AS/400. You can use this method if the AdminServer is not running.
