Table 3–9: Server Performance Parameters Parameter Syntax Purpose After-image Buffers -aibufs n Specify the number of after-image buffers when running AIW. After-image Stall -aistall Suspend database activity when an empty after-image (AI) file is unavailable. Blocks in Database Buffers -B n Specify the number of blocks in the database buffers. Maximum Private Buffers per Connection -Bpmax Control the number of private buffers a connection can request through the Private Read-only Buffers (-Bp
) parameter. Before-image Buffers -bibufs n Specify the number of before-image buffers when running BIW. Threshold Stall -bistall Send a message to the log file when the recovery log threshold is reached. Use with -bithold. Recovery Log Threshold -bithold n Specify the maximum size of the recovery log files. Direct I/O1 -directio Open all files in unbuffered mode. Before-image Cluster Age -G n Specify the number of seconds before Progress reuses a before-image cluster. Group Delay -groupdelay n Specifies the number of milliseconds a transaction waits before committing. Hash Table Entries -hash Specify the number of hash table entries for the buffer pool. No Crash Protection -i Run Progress without using database integrity or recovery. Lock Table Entries -L n Specify the number of entries in the record locking table. Delayed BI File Write1 -Mf n Delay writing the last before-image (BI) file records. VLM Page Table Entry Optimization2 -Mpte Allocate shared memory in multiples of 8 MB for VLM64 support. Shared-memory Overflow Size1 -Mxs n Replace the default value of the shared-memory overflow area. Number of Users -n n Specify the maximum number of users connected to the database. Pin Shared Memory -pinshm Prevent the database engine from swapping shared memory contents to disk. Semaphore Sets3 -semsets n Change the number of semaphore sets available to a broker.
