Progress/400
Product Guide
Retaining Progress Attributes
You can apply database changes on the AS/400 with the Change Progress/400 Dictionary Utility (CHGPRODCT) and retain attributes of the files from the original Progress/400 dictionary creation. To retain Progress-style field names, you must specify the correct value for the PROATR keyword in CHGPRODCT.
This feature does not apply in the following situations:
- A file has extent fields.
- A file has changed; for example, from a logical file to a physical file.
- A Progress/400 field data type has changed (character, integer, and so forth).
- It is possible that the index designated as primary might not be retained. It is affected by the value of the PROATR option. If *CMPSAVE is selected, Progress issues a message if the value has changed.
- An initial value was specified for a field on the AS/400. CHGPRODCT always overwrites the initial value set from the Progress/400 Data Dictionary.
Table 8–5 shows the affect of PROATR on fields given the three possible keyword selections.
For more information on CHGPRODCT, see AS/400 Utilities."
