SmartDataBrowser Scroll-bar Behavior Changes
To support navigation through the whole data stream using the Browser’s scroll-bar thumb, a new ROW-DISPLAY event handler has been defined in browser.p. This changes the behavior of the object.
- Old behavior — If the user moved the scroll-bar thumb to the end of the scroll bar, the Browser would display the last record in the buffer and stop. This was confusing to many users, because the standard meaning of dragging the thumb to the end is end-of-document.
- New behavior — If the user moves the scroll-bar thumb to the end of the scroll bar, bringing the first/last record in the buffer into view, the Browser reads a new batch of records from the Data-Source if possible, and repositions the thumb to reflect the change. Thus, the thumb will never remain at the top or bottom of the scrollbar unless the first/last record in the whole data stream—not merely the first or last in the buffer—is in view.
