- Administration — Version 9.1C includes the following changes to administration:
- The Progress GUI client and WebClient now display a splash screen during startup. For more information, see the following documentation:

- Progress now supports up to four action code segments for the main procedure in an r-code file. For more information, see the following documentation:
Manual: "Feature Comparisons," and "R-code Features and Functions," in this bulletin.- ADM2 and AppBuilder — The manner in which the SmartDataBrowser™ scroll-bar operates has been enhanced to include record fetching capabilities. The SmartB2BObject now includes limited support for DTD originals in XML mapping files.

- Database — The Progress Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) now supports Network File Server (NFS) configurations. NFS configurations on Linux platforms are not supported. For more information, see the following documentation:
- DataServers — Version 9.1C provides the following enhancements:
- The DataServer (-Dsrv) startup parameter has several new options, PRGRS_ALWAYS_INDEX, PRGRS_CACHE_CONN, PRGRS_PROC_TRAN, PRGRS_STABLE_CURS, and PRGRS_WAIT_DELAY. These new options apply for the Progress DataServer for ODBC and the Progress DataServer for Microsoft SQL Server. For more information on these new options, see the following documentation:
Manual: Progress DataServer for ODBC Guide and "Progress DataServer" in this bulletin.- The Enterprise versions of the Progress DataServer for ODBC and Progress DataServer for Microsoft SQL Server now include Version 3.7 of the MERANT ODBC drivers for all the supported ODBC data sources. For the Personal versions of the DataServers, these drivers must be purchased from the vendor. For information about these drivers, see the PDF file

Manual: "Progress DataServer" in this bulletin.- Debug Alert Enhancements — The DEBUG-ALERT attribute on the SESSION system handle was modified to support debug alert enhancements. This attribute reads the value you set using the Debug Alert (

- Installation — At the request of the DG-UX vendor, Progress Version 9.1B was the last release to be offered on the DG-UX operating system. DG-UX has been removed from the list of supported platforms for 9.1C. For more information on available platforms, see the following documentation:

- WebClient — The WebClient has been upgraded with IntelliStreamTM technology; support for digital signatures; support for a built-in installer, in addition to the external installers already supported; and the WebClient Application Assembler, a greatly expanded version of the PROWCAPP Editor. - WebClient 4GL Enhancements — The following language elements were modified to support WebClient enhancements provided in Progress Version 9.1B and Version 9.1C:

The following language elements were created to support WebClient enhancements provided in Progress Version 9.1B and Progress Version 9.1C:
- CLIENT-TYPE attribute on the SESSION system handle
- DECIMALS attribute on the Buffer-field object handle
- GENERATE-MD5 option on the COMPILE statement
- HAS-RECORDS attribute on the Temp-table object handle
- MIN-SIZE option on the COMPILE statement
The following language elements were created in Progress Version 9.1C to support WebClient enhancements for downloading a client application’s codebase (that is, an application’s files) stored on an AppServer or a Web server:
- CODEBASE-LOCATOR system handle
- APPSERVER-INFO attribute
- APPSERVER-PASSWORD attribute
- APPSERVER-USERID attribute
- END-USER-PROMPT attribute
