Starting Clients Without Connecting to a Database
To permit maximum flexibility for your application, you might want to start Progress without connecting to a database. For example, you can start Progress and name a startup procedure, such as a main menu procedure. This startup procedure (or a procedure that it calls) can connect to a database based on an end user’s menu selection. To start Progress without connecting to a database, execute the Progress startup command without specifying a database name. On UNIX, use the PRO command; in Windows, use the PROWIN32 command. For more information about startup commands, see the Progress Startup Command and Parameter Reference.
