New Environment Variables For the WebSpeed Broker

In WebSpeed Version 3.1D, WebSpeed Brokers and the Agents under their control can be modified by a number of predefined variables. These predefined variables affect a variety of conditions, including the development environment, logging, and database connections.

Table 1–1 is a list of the new environment variables with a brief description of their functionality. They are enabled from the Progress Explorer Environment Variables dialog box. For more information on using these variables, see the online help in Progress Explorer.

BATCH_INTERVAL
Set the amount of time agents sit idle before running the run-batch-object custom procedure.
COMPILE_ON_FLY
Compile source code at run time.
COMPILE_XCODE
Compile encrypted code.
DATABASES
Specify which databases to associate with a WebSpeed Agent.
DB_FAILOVER
Specify backup databases for the primary databases defined in DATBASES.
DB_GROUP
Define associated databases as groups.
DB_OBJECT
Associate code objects with databases.
LOG_PATH
Specify where to store log files.
LOG_TYPES
Specify what type of information to store in log files.
MULTI_DEV_PROPATH
Define unique PROPATH settings for multiple developers.
SESSION_COOKIE
Define a cookie that tracks anonymous users.
SESSION_PATH
Specify where to store session information.
STATE_AWARE_ENABLED
Enable state aware mode.
SUPER_PROC
Specify the super procedures to initialize.
WEB_RUN_PATH
Specify which pathnames are accessible via a URL.
