Configuring the NameServer In the Progress Explorer
You can use the Progress Explorer to define and configure a NameServer instance. (See the Progress Explorer online help for detailed information.) When you configure a NameServer instance, you can do the following things in each of the property categories:
- Location — Set port numbers and connection types.
- General — Set the working directory, whether the NameServer starts automatically, and when the NameServer unregisters brokers.
- Logging Setting — Set how the NameServer logs events.
- Advanced Features — Specify one or more NameServers from the already-configured NameServers to serve as Neighboring NameServers. These are the NameServers that provide connection-level fault tolerance for a Unified Broker application. For more information, see the "Understanding Server-level and Connection-level Fault Tolerance" section.
- Environment Variables — Set environment variables for NameServer execution; see "Setting Up Your Environment," for more information.
