Progress
SQL-89
Guide and Reference
Accessing Non-Progress Databases Through Progress/SQL
You can use Progress/SQL to retrieve and update data in the SQL-based non-Progress databases that Progress supports. For example, Progress supports DataServers to access ORACLE, SYBASE, and Rdb databases. The DataServer processes the database requests from an application. The interface processing is transparent to the application. To use Progress/SQL with a non-Progress database, you only have to specify the appropriate Progress database parameters when you use the CONNECT statement to connect the databases.
You cannot use SQL to modify the schema of non-Progress databases.
