Creating the Response File Automatically

The preferred method for creating a response file is to create it automatically.

In order to create a response file automatically, run the setup.exe with the -r option. Note the following syntax:

setup.exe -r [-f1C:\pathname\ResponseFile]

By default, the response file is created in your Windows directory and is named setup.iss. You can use the -f1 option to specify an alternate directory and file name for the response file.

NOTE: Be sure that there is no space between -f1 and C:\pathname\ResponseFile.

When you run setup.exe with the -r option, InstallShield runs the installation interactively and creates the response file, which contains all of your installation choices.
