Debugger Guide
LOG Command
Starts session logging from this point to a specified log file. The Debugger then writes all Debugger commands and associated messages to the file.
SYNTAX
filename
The name of a log file. If filename specifies a simple filename, the Debugger creates the log file in your temporary directory. If filename specifies a relative pathname, the Debugger creates the file relative to the temporary directory in the directory you specify. If filename specifies an absolute pathname, the Debugger creates the log file in the specified directory.
If you do not specify filename, the Debugger creates the log file with the name
prodebug.log
in your temporary directory.NOTES
- Your temporary directory is the directory specified by the Temporary Directory (-T) startup parameter, or the current working directory by default.
- If you execute the LOG Command for a log file and logging is already started for the specified file, the Debugger displays an error message and ignores the request.
- If you execute the LOG Command for a log file while logging is already started for a previous log file, the Debugger stops logging and closes the previous file, then starts logging to the new file.
- Output to the log file is flushed with each write to keep the file current.
- The LOG Command does not append. If a file with the specified log file name already exists, its contents are overwritten.
