Generating and Managing Proxies
This chapter provides a general guide to each step required to define and generate proxies for your Java or ActiveX Open Client application. This chapter also describes how to use the Open Client Proxy Generator (ProxyGen) tool. For more information on the options available in ProxyGen, see the ProxyGen online help. If you only need to access Progress SmartDataObjects on the AppServer (and no other 4GL procedures) from a Java application, you do not need to use ProxyGen. Instead, use the prebuilt SDOAppObject proxy to access the SmartDataObjects. For more information, see Using SmartDataObjects From Java Clients."
The sections in this chapter describe:
For information about writing Java and ActiveX applications using Open Client proxies, see "Programming Concepts," "Programming Java Clients," and Programming ActiveX Controller Clients." For information about writing Java applets, see "Programming Concepts," "Programming Java Clients," and Special Considerations For Java Applets."
