DataServer
for ORACLE Guide

Starting the DataServer Processes

Before you create a schema holder, you must start the DataServer processes. This section provides brief instructions for starting the processes that make up the local and remote DataServers on host and client machines. For more information on starting the DataServer processes, see Connecting the DataServer."

The following instructions use default executable names. If you built custom executables, substitute those names. When creating a schema holder, the startup syntax is the same whether you are running a local DataServer or using SQL*Net or Net 8.

Remote DataServer on NT — UNIX Client

On the host machine, use ProControl to start the broker you configured for the ORACLE DataServer.

On the client machine, run the client executable (_progres).
