Non-precompile Mode

When you run the preprocessor in non-precompile mode, it opens the specified ESQL source files and converts the appropriate ESQL statements to ESQL-LIB function calls and data declarations. As it converts ESQL statements to C, the preprocessor generates code to pass the SQL for each static ESQL statement to the ESQL-LIB function that invokes the statement. The ESQL interface then compiles all ESQL statements in your application at run time.

NOTE: If you preprocess in non-precompile mode, build either a full large client executable (a large client that contains the SQL Compiler) or a small client executable (that uses the SQL Compiler built into the OID). A run-time large client cannot execute a non-precompiled ESQL application. For more information, see the "Linking ESQL Executables" section.
