Help Topic Files
The instructions in this guide assume that you are using only the utilities that are provided with your Progress product, plus MS-Word and the accessories that are supplied with Windows. Note that there are many help authoring tools available that can save you time by automating many of the tasks described in this chapter.
A help topic file is a rich-text format (RTF) file containing the content text as well as footnotes and special formatting properties such as underlining and hidden text. You can use MS-Word (or any text editor that can save text as RTF files) or use a help authoring tool that works as an add-on to MS-Word or can import RTF files.
Figure 3–1 shows how a Procedure Editor help topic appears while the help author edits the text and inserts control codes in MS-Word.
