WebSpeed

Configuration Guide

Startup Options

There are many ways that you can start your WebSpeed configuration. You can configure some or all of your configuration to start automatically when your system starts. You can write scripts to handle starting your configuration. However, because of the dependencies in a WebSpeed environment, there are sequences in which you should generally start the components. For example, the NameServer requires its AdminServer to be running when the NameServer starts.

The following sections describe startup procedures for the sample configurations. The startup procedures avoid common errors that occur when components are started before everything they depend on has started. The routines assume that you are starting everything manually. If you automate the start up of your configuration, use these routines as guides in determining the sequence to start your components.

In most cases, when a machine or component fails, you only have to restart that machine or component. If your data source in a complex distributed configuration fails, data integrity concerns might make it necessary to bring down other components before restarting your data source.
