Representing Data with Widgets
Using the right data widget with a particular variable or database field makes all the difference in the world to your end users. The nature of many widgets suggests the kind of data they contain and the ways that users can interact with them. For example, when users see a slider widget, they know that they are working with numeric data. On the other hand, some widgets, like the fill-in field, can work with several data types, so a user relies on other cues in your interface to determine the expected input.
