Deleting an Index

The Progress/400 Data Dictionary allows you to delete an index in the server schema. It also gives you the option of deleting the associated DB2/400 logical file. If you choose to delete the index only from the server schema, you can still access the associated logical file through non-Progress AS/400 applications. However, if you choose to delete the logical file, no application can access it.

Follow these steps to delete an index:

  1. Choose the Index mode button in the Progress/400 Data Dictionary main window.
  2. Choose Modify schema.
  3. Select the index that you want to delete.
  4. Choose the Delete Index button. A message appears asking you to verify the deletion.
  5. Choose Yes. A message appears asking whether you want to delete the DB2/400 logical file.
  6. Choose Yes to delete the logical file, or choose No to delete the index from the server schema only and preserve the logical file.
