Using the Progress AppServer
Implementing Normal 4GL Transactions
You can implement a normal 4GL transaction in any AppServer procedure that the client runs either directly or indirectly. The 4GL for starting a normal 4GL transaction in an AppServer session is identical to the 4GL required to start transactions in a Progress client session. In any case, a normal 4GL transaction starts and ends entirely within the context of the AppServer procedure that implements it. Because this type of transaction completes within the scope of a single procedure call, you can implement a normal 4GL transaction on an AppServer running in any operating mode (state-reset, state-aware, or stateless).
