Remove Server Schema Entry (RMVSCHE)
Use the RMVSCHE utility to remove schema entries from a server schema. This utility allows you to remove entries from the Progress/400 environment’s physical, virtual, and logical files without removing them from the selected library. After you run this utility, you must synchronize the clients so that the schema holders reflect the changes.
The "Usage Guidelines for the RMVSCHE Utility" section provides some special information on using this utility. Read it before you run this utility. For more information on how the RMVSCHE utility executes, see the "Operational Notes for the RMVSCHE Utility" section.
Table 10–14 describes the RMVSCHE parameters.
Usage Guidelines for the RMVSCHE Utility
You must follow these rules when you use the RMVSCHE utility:
- You can specify *ALL values only when the entry type is *TABLE.
- The Automatically Reassign Primary Index parameter works in conjunction with the *INDEX option.
- You cannot remove the physical file key either by explicitly naming the file or by selecting the *RELATIONS option.
- Setting the Automatically Reassign Primary Index parameter to *NO and entering the primary index name in the file name parameter does not remove the primary index.
- The *RELATIONS option does not use the Automatically Reassign Primary Index parameter.
Operational Notes for the RMVSCHE Utility
This section provides additional information on how the RMVSCHE utility operates:
- If you specify *ALL for both the filename and the library name and use *TABLE, the server schema is cleared.
- If you specify *YES for the Automatically Reassign Primary Index parameter, the first index found in the P__INDEX file becomes the new primary index.
- The utility lists the files removed from the server schema in the job log.
- If an error occurs, a rollback is performed. This means that either all changes or no changes are processed.
- The validity checker provides the normal checking to verify access and, in addition, validates the following:
- The Dictionary Library is correct.
- The server schema version is correct.
- The named files are in the server schema.
NOTE: If the *ALL option is used with any entry other than *TABLE, an error message is returned.- If the *ALL option is used for the file name and/or the library name, the entry-type is *TABLE.
