Matching Your Web Server and WebSpeed Messenger

If you plan to run the WebSpeed Transaction Server and your Web server on separate operating systems, you must obtain the WebSpeed Messenger for your Web server’s operating system. The Messenger must also be compatible with the interface standard that your Web server supports. Almost all Web servers support the CGI interface standard, but the CGI Messenger tends to have the slowest response time. You can download all the Messengers from the Download area on Progress Technical Support’s Web site, http://www.progress.com/services/support/.

Table 4–4 lists the most common Web servers and the appropriate WebSpeed Messengers.
