Modifying an Index

The Progress/400 Data Dictionary allows you to modify DB2/400 indexes (logical files). The DataServer takes the definitions you provide and adds them to the logical file on the AS/400.

Follow these steps to modify an index:

  1. Choose the Index mode button in the Progress/400 Data Dictionary main window.
  2. Choose Modify schema.
  3. Select the table and index that you want to modify.
  4. Choose the Index Properties button. The following dialog box appears:
  5. You can change the names, move to a different library, or change the descriptions. Choose the Help button to access detailed information on all of the elements in the dialog box. If your font is too large to fit all the characters in a field, scroll the field with the arrow key.
  6. If you flag the index as inactive, a message box appears giving you the option of deleting the logical file on the AS/400.

NOTE: You can change the word size in the Index Properties dialog box only before you commit the word index. Once you commit it, you can change the word size only by deleting and re-creating the word index.

  7. Choose OK or choose Save. Choose one of the navigation buttons to view more Index property sheets.
