Using the Progress AppServer
Text Editor and Configuration Utilities
You can update the
ubroker.properties
file manually by editing it using any text editor. This is the only method available to update NameServer and AppServer configurations on a UNIX platform. However, you can also manually edit this file on Windows platforms. In general, it is recommended that you update all UNIX configurations remotely using the Progress Explorer GUI. If you must update a UNIX AppServer configuration locally, make a copy of the file, update the copy, then verify the result. Progress provides a set of configuration validation utilities that you can use to verify the correctness of any changes that you make to this file.
You can use the:
- NSCONFIG utility—To validate NameServer configurations. For more information on this utility, see the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for Windows or the Progress Installation and Configuration Guide Version 9 for UNIX.
- ASCONFIG utility—To validate AppServer configurations. For more information on the this utility and on updating the
ubroker.properties
file manually, see the "Configuring an AppServer Using the Properties File" section.
