Progress Version 9 Installation Options

You can choose from three options when installing Progress Version 9: Typical, Complete, or Custom. The three different installation options allow you to choose the option that is best for you, depending on how many products you are installing, which product components are mandatory and which are optional, and whether all the products reside on the same system.

When you choose the Typical installation option and specify the products you want to install, all mandatory components and subcomponents are installed automatically. Optional components and subcomponents are not included in the installation.

When you choose the Complete installation option and specify the products you want to install, all mandatory and optional components and subcomponents are installed automatically. For this reason, a Complete installation usually requires more disk space than a Typical installation requires.

When you choose the Custom installation option and specify the products you want to install, you can choose the mandatory and optional components and subcomponents to include in the installation. You can also distribute Progress components on different machines and work around disk space limitations. This method is recommended for advanced users.

For a description of the steps to follow when installing Progress Version 9, see Installing Progress."

The mandatory and optional components and subcomponents for each Progress Version 9 product are listed, by product, in the following tables.
