Using Network Startup Parameters
To connect network clients, servers, and application servers, you might have to use a variety of startup parameters to establish and manage network communications among them. The requirements and use of these parameters vary on different operating systems and network environments.
Client Network Parameters
Table 8–3 lists the parameters you use to supply Progress clients with necessary network information.
Table 8–3: Client Network Parameters Parameter Syntax Host Name1-H

Server Network Parameters
Table 8–4 lists the parameters you use to supply Progress brokers and servers with necessary network information. In a Progress AppServer configuration, use the same parameters to pass information to application brokers and application servers.
For more information on the syntax and values for each parameter, see the Progress DataServer Guides ( Progress DataServer for ODBC Guide , Progress DataServer for ORACLE Guide , and Progress/400 Product Guide ) and the Progress Client Deployment Guide .
