Contents File Commands

Table 4–1 summarizes the commands you can use in contents files. Note that a contents file command is always preceded by a colon.

Table 4–1: Contents File Commands
Command (with syntax)
Direction to Help Engine
:Base HLP-filename[> window-name]
To use HLP-filename as the default help file to search for topics referenced by topic entries. If you specify window-name, the help engine will use that window type as the default window type for displaying help topics.
:Include cnt-filename
To find the contents file specified by cnt-filename and add its headings and topics to the Contents tab based on the position of the :Include command in this contents file. If the specified file is not found, no error message is generated.
:Index help-title = HLP-filename
To include the keywords from HLP-filename in the Index tab, and the unique text words from HLP-filename in the Find tab of the Help Topics dialog box. The help engine uses help-title when it displays a topic from HLP-filename.
:Link HLP-filename
To search in HLP-filename (as well as the default help file) for help topics during a KLink or ALink search.
:Tab tab-name = DLL-name
To add a custom tab to the Help Topics dialog box and call the .dll specified by DLL-name to determine its functionality.
:Title title
To use title in the title bar of the Help Topics dialog box, and in the title bar of any secondary window that does not specify a title.
