Selecting a Server to Host the Application Configuration File
WebClient requires that the application configuration file be downloaded from a standard Internet-based server, which can consist of a Web server or a file server.
You might host the application configuration file on a server you have already set up. For example, if you have already set up a WebServer with the AppServer Internet Adapter (AIA), you might host the configuration file on this Web server. Or, if you already have set up a file server (and are working entirely within a corporate intranet and are using file sharing), you might host the configuration file on the file server.
If the server you select already has security set up, the security can protect the application configuration file at little or no additional cost.
Once you select a server, then at application-deployment time, you describe the server to WebClient using the WebClient Application Assembler’s Configuration File Locator Definition window, as shown in Figure 4–1.
